Chairman
Canon John Edge is a retired Church of England priest who served many years of his Ministry abroad. He has also served the Parish of Briercliffe and “Canon John” has lectured to the Society
Roger Frost
Chairman Elect
Roger Frost is the historian of Briercliffe though he has also published on Burnley. He is the immediate past Mayor of Burnley and is a member of the Burnley Borough Council and Chairman of Briercliffe Parish Council. Another of his interests is the environment and he served as Chairman of the successful Millennium Forest of Burnley Project. He is a retired teacher. Roger is the current Chairman of the Society and also acts as Publicity Officer. He was appointed MBE in 2000.
John Bentley
Joint President
John Bentley succeeded the late Mr. Ken Bolton as Joint President with Roger Frost.
John is a distinguished local historian with publications on Wycollar, Brierfield and Ingleton in particular. He served in the military and is a retired teacher. John has also served as Chairman of the Society.
Stephanie Sutcliffe
Honorary Treasurer
A teacher, Stephanies family have had a long association with Briercliffe.
Susan Meeks
Honorary Secretary
Susan Meeks is also very much involved in Briercliffe organisations. She represents the Society on the Flower Show Committee and is Deputy Chairman of the Community Centre Association.
Barbara Holsgrove
Speakers Secretary
Barbara Holsgrove undertakes the important work of finding speakers for the Society’s monthly meetings which are held in the Community Centre. The variety and quality of the individual speakers is a testimony to Barbara’s work for the Society.
Joyce Haworth

Formerley, the Minutes Secretary Joyce now serves on the Committee helping with membership issues and the production of the newsletter.

Married to John, above, Carol is a former teacher very much involved with the Briercliffe Art Group
Ruth Eastwood
Committee Member
Ruth Eastwood is married to Ivan. As well as being our Hon. Treasurer, Ruth is also the Treasurer of the Community Centre Association.
Ivan Eastwood
Committee Member
Ivan Eastwood is an engineer by profession though he is now retired. He is involved in many Briercliffe organisations – the village school, where he is a Governor, and the Community Centre Association. Ivan is also the Society’s Social Secretary and he has served as Chairman of the Society.
