Burnley Town Hall

Manchester Road showing the Town Hall and Mechanics Institute. The town Hall was opened on 27 October 1888; the architects were Holtom and Fox of Dewsbury who had won a competition to design the building. The Mechanics Institute of 1855 is considered the better building architecturally, but might not have been so if the plans for the Town Hall had not been modified in the interest of economy.
