Cross Hill Inn

The Cross Hill Inn, sometimes known at the Cross Hill Tavern, stood at 1 - 3 Bank Street, Padiham - the buildings still survive and are now private houses. At the time this photograph was taken, around the early 1880’s, the landlord was Thomas Gunson Robinson, but it ceased trading around 1902. The Inn was a Thwaites house and it is interesting to note that Daniel Thwaite, the Blackburn brewer, also had hunting and fishing rights down to the River Calder.
