Holme Railway Smash

The Smash at Holme Station, 27 September 1907. This accident was the result of wagons becoming uncoupled, running down the gradient and crashing into the rear of the train at Holme. The train was carrying onions, coke and iron and thousands of onions were strewn over the area. William Pym, deputy stationmaster at Holme, was killed as a result of the collision.
