Burnley FC Cup Final 1914

George V presenting the F.A. Cup. On the big day, 25 April 1914, in the final held at Crystal Palace, Burnley beat Liverpool 1 – 0, Bert Freeman the scorer. He “darted in like a flash of lightening and taking the ball before it touched the ground hooked it with his instep into the left hand corner of the net”.
For the first time the cup was presented by the reigning monarch, who is seen here handing it to Burnley captain, Tommy Boyle.
