This week has been one of special celebration for a Harle Syke man, Mr James Halstead. On Wednesday, he and his wife, Esther, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and the following day Mar Halstead celebrated his 71st birthday.
The couple live at 31 Granville Street.
Mr Halstead, who is a year older than his wife was born at Harle Syke, and Mrs Halstead (nee Gudgeon) comes from Top o' Town. After their marriage they spent a number of years in Burnley before going to live in Manchester and in St Annes where they ran a cafe. They returned to Burnley about 16 years ago, and until his retirement Mr Halstead was a weaver at Finsley View Mill, Harle Syke.
The couple celebrated their anniversary at a party held last Saturday and attended by their son and his wife and grand-daughter, who live in Chadderton.
