Burnley Express, 26 May 1917
BRIERCLIFFE MAN MISSING.
Pte. James Leaver, No. 33198, Loyal North Lancashire, is reported as missing, his wife having been notified to this effect by his officer. He enlisted on June 14th, 1916, and left for the front on November 3rd, 1916. Mrs. Leaver last heard from him on April 13th, when he was working with the R.G.A. heavy batteries. She would be glad to receive information of him from anyone connected with the regiment. She resides at 428, Briercliffe-road, with her two children. Pte. Leaver was 31 years of age, and was formerly employed as a tape labourer for the Queen-street Manufacturing Co.

SERVING IN H.M. FORCES
PTE. SIDNEY LEAVER, of 7, Cuerdale-street, Burnley, is serving in the Royal Scots. Twenty-four years old, he is married. He was employed previously by the Queen-street Manufacturing Co., Harle Syke. His father was killed in the last war.

1983 – LEAVER Sidney of 22 Camp street, Burnley died 13 December 1982. Administration Liverpool, 25 February. Not exceeding £25,000

252. William Bannister LEAVER

NELSON SOLDIER'S DEATH IN FRANCE.
Pte. William Bannister Leaver, 12th King's Liverpool Regt., died in Rouen Hospital, France, April 1st, 1919. He was 36 years of age. He had been in hospital about 6 weeks suffering from septic poisoning, and had undergone three operations. He was just about to be demobilised and had been out in France over two years, and had been wounded once. Pte. Leaver was married and leaves a widow and one child, living at 31, Dover-street, Nelson. He was formerly a weaver at Messrs. Bracewell and Duerden's, Throstle Nest Mill.

390. Clifford LEAVER

Burnley Express, 20 December 1941
MISSING AFTER "REPULSE" SINKING.
Believed to have been on board H.M.S. "Repulse," sunk last week off Malaya, Stoker Clifford Leaver has been officially reported missing by the Admiralty. Notification was received on Thursday by his wife, Mrs. Marie Leaver of the Queen's Hotel, Holme-in-Cliviger.
Stoker Leaver, who was 25 years of age, joined the Navy last April. Well known in Burnley, he hails from the Harle Syke district.

1942 – LEAVER Clifford of 23 Red Lees-avenue, Burnley, died on or since 10 December 1941 on war service. Administration Llandudno 7 August to Marion Leaver, widow. Effects £126 19s. 6d.
