NELSONIAN DIES IN GERMANY.
News has been received at Nelson of the death of Pte. H. Cowgill, of the 1st East Lancashire Regiment and who before the war resided at 86, Larch-street. Cowgill was wounded in the retreat from Mons in the early stages of the war. The intimation of his death was conveyed in a message from Pte. King, a Nelson soldier who formerly resided at 133, Southfield-street, and who is interned at Doeberitz. Cowgill was also a prisoner of war.

Walton Cowgill would have been born about 1866
