Does anyone have any pictures of any Briercliffe relatives who served in the armed forces that they would like to submit for display in the people section on the photo page?
Any would be greatfully received.

Hi Mel

I have quite a few photos of servicemen (mostly from the Sagr family) from WW1, the problem is I don't know who most of them are. Woulkd you like me to send them to you, if so how do I do that?

Sue x

Hi Sue,
I can add them as unknown. We might find a newspaper article with a picture one day that names them.

You need to email them to me please, PM on its way to you with my email address.

Thanks Sue.

Some of Sue's pictures are now on the site at http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Nameless%20Forces.htm

They are numbers 9 to 14 and also 'Sagars'.

Hi Mel

Many thanks for that, it would be great if anyone out there has knowledge of the men in the photos.

This appears to be a British soldier about the time of the Boer War. If Mel can scan a clear image of the belt buckle we might be able to see what regiment he is in.

I found another photograph for this studio (H. Neame of Grace Hill, Folkestone) here
Front http://www.rogerco.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/2004/neamf.jpg
Back http://www.rogerco.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/2004/neamb.jpg

Does the back of your photo look the same as this?

Kris, I have emailed you the pictures you have showed an interest in. I don't think you will see anything any clearer though.

Sue, when your mum returns, could you scan and send larger copies of these that Kris is querying if possible please.

Saying that, I'd be surprised if you would be able to see much more detail than is visible now....we could just end up with a larger unclear image of a belt buckle (Sue, that is not a dig at you. If the detail isn't in the picture to begin with, a larger scan will not find it!)
