Hi I'm new on here. Was researching something in Briercliffe and inadvertently came across this site. I started to explore the sections and found the First World War list of combatants. I found the 4 Nutter brothers and was shocked to read their stories 2 dying at the same time. I was trying to locate Scarrs Farm Briercliffe but can find no trace even using an old 1899 map. Does anyone know where it was and have the coordinates or Grid Reference? I have found a picture of the house, a picture of the family mother and 6 children and some pictures of James, mainly school photos. There is no mention of what happened to Edmund. |

The best I can do is, Google Scarrs House Nelson Road and it comes up with Scarrs House Barn Nelson Road Briercliffe and a map. Hope this helps. |

Hi Gloria, Thank you very much for that I will have a look and let you know. I was up Black Hameldon today searching for the B24 crash site but to no avail. It's a shame when people find these historical sites they dont add GR's . I suppose searching hard makes finding them a greater reward. Thanks again, John C |

Hi Gloria, I will check the building out over the weekend ( with the owners permission). It would seem to be the one, it's close enough to Briercliffe to be right as far as school attendance and church attendance goes. I used to live in Harle Syke and was only 500 meters as the crow flies from the Farm. I was also in the Police and that was my area for a number of years. Thanks again, John |
