I'm quite aware that some of the gravestone pages are looking quite full. This isn't too much of a problem for those of us on broadband but for people who are on dial up or a lower broadband connection, these pages could take time to load. Not only that, they are really long!
As you are aware, they are already organised alphabetically. The only way I can think of to tidy them up a bit is to make new 'categories' for the popular names like Halstead, Nuttall, Atkinson etc...
Take a look at Haggate, I've done an example of what I plan to do using Halstead (though I have only moved 3 images for now)

I have started to move the pictures about now. The links from the forum to gravestones images should still work as I am altering those at the same time, however, should anyone find a broken link could you please send me the the link and the gravestone details so that I can correct it.

After quite a few months of no activity, I have done an update to the Haggate Baptist Chapel gravestone images.

Not a problem Mel - it genuinely has been a pleasure! Like I said, I've found a lot of useful information on this forum and website, so it seemed time to give some back!

Oh, and sorry about the very visible shoes in the Nuttall photo - I wasn't deliberately desecrating the grave - it was just the only way I could keep the grass flat enough to take the photo!

I was quite careful to keep myself out of most of the photos, but that Nuttall stone was the last one I found, and my patience was sorely tried by then!

I'm not usually one for those sort of heavy boots, but I would recommend them as the very minimum of requirements for exploring Halifax Road Churchyard!

Oh, and gloves next time...definitely gloves.

My friend and I each have a 'boot bag' in my car for our trips to the cemeteries (Hubby not into it at all and calls us corpse stalkers!).
In the bag we have kneeling pad, gardening gloves, handbrush, plastic trowel, secateurs and baby wipes to clean ourselves up with afterwards as well as a garden refuse bag for any trimmings so as to leave the place tidy. The last time we went out, we went to Sowerby Bridge area and had written ahead of the visit as we knew that one stone we wanted was completely buried under a rhodedendron(?) bush and we wanted to trim it a little. We were given permission but the bush was too much for us so we did the best we could and climbed under it!
