The board has been updated (obvious really as it is no longer pink!)

We will alter the styling at a later date but hopefully things should run smoothly (crosses fingers!) Believe it or not, the layout is the same as before...it's just not got the Briercliffe styling.

I am still finding my way around it and making sure that everything works as it should so please bear with me.

The link at the top of the page to the main site is currently not working. To get there, go to http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk

I knew it was a mistake to do this when Lyndon has gone down south and Kev has finished work!

Wow, like it. :)
Is there a link at the top of the page like before, to take us back to the main forum instead of clicking backwards?

For now you can click the phpbb image. That takes you to the forum home page.

I think I will change Kevs work schedule for tomorrow...the paying clients can wait. Our forum needs a little more help

Having had a look at the registration process, I am hoping that this upgrade will cut out most, if not all, of the spam registrations that Kris and I have been dealing with. Fingers crossed!

Just noticed 2 things. First, where it shows who's on line (like me & Kris just now) there's a googlebot and some other kinds of 'bots'. Second, you can't sort the members any more. That's a shame cos I just got that when you sort us in order of total posts I'd overtaken David. I know, small things and small minds . . .

The bots have always been about but we were not as aware of them before (unless you were in the admin section)

You can sort by posts Maureen. Click on the word 'posts' and it will arrange members by ascending first and then descending if you click again. David is not actually showing in the list for some reason.
Or, scroll to the bottom of the page and there is a 'sort by' drop down menu.

Sorry, I have just noticed the colour panel in the message editor

The PM system isn't as user friendly.
It is still easy to reply but composing a message is a little more complex. You have to use the panel on the left to find the recipient and then 'add' them before it shows the message as going to them.

The easier route is to find the member you want in the member list and then click on the PM button next to their name

It seems the search function wasn't working properly. I have recreated the search index so it will hopefully be OK now. Time will tell I guess.

It doesn't do well with popular words though...e.g. Sutcliffe or Leaver. It finds too many and so returns nothing. I think the search would need to be more specific than just the surname?

Mel, before the update, when you clicked on a link to the BS site it opened a new window. It doesn't seem to do that now so I have to use the back button on the browser to get back to the forum. Am I doing something wrong?
If not, is this a temporary state of affairs or a permanent feature?
