Jack sadly passed away at the weekend.

My deepest sympathy to Sue and her family but also my thanks for the photos that Jack and Sue have shared with us over recent years.

How sad. Small consolation, but it was lovely that he finally got his medals whilst he was well enough to appreciate them.

Thank you one and all.
On Sunday September 6th, family and friends will be gathering at my house for a wee drop of Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry, dad's favourite. You are all invited to join us in a toast to a wonderful man - a gentleman - and to celebrate his life and his 93rd birthday!
This website brought him much joy (and bewilderment about how it all happens!).....it triggered many memories of a very happy time for him, as he was much loved by his parents and grandparents. I tried to explain 'website' and who Mel was....so I believe it was he who christened her the SpiderLady. I shall miss his lovely dry Lancashire sense of humour.....and his 'Jackisms'.

Again, thank you.

I wish I could Sue. I'll raise a glass to him where ever I happen to be on Sunday.

I was indeed christened the Spiderlady by Jack.

Might not be Bristol Cream, but I will certainly raise a glass of something.

I have received an email from David asking me to pass on his condolences. He says-

Will you please pass on my deepest condolences to Susan and her family. I got a lot of pleasure looking at the photographs that Susan posted and also the tales she told on behalf of her father.
He seemed a lovely man and had a good innings as they say. I will raise a glass of something to him on Sunday.
God bless Jack

Well, you did me in, Mel!
I made my daily trip to the website today and, lo and behold, there's my dad as 'poster boy' again! :o
He was sooo tickled when you first did that....the photo reminded me of that whole day when he got his medals and the newspaper journalist interviewed him. He was as quietly chuffed as can be!

I'm still mopping up here at my laptop...and I'm going to have an early Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry, just to mellow me out!!
You naughty girl, you! :P
