Sunday 28th July 2013
The Briercliffe Society's Local History Group, Summer Walk
The walk has been arranged on similar lines to the walk which took place last year. Sunday Lunch will be taken at the Hare and Hounds in Haggate at 1pm. The walk will commence from Thursden Picnic Site, at 2pm. and will be led by Roger Frost and Pauline Frost Hardwick. We will be following the route of the "Valley of the Goblins" Trail which is about two and a half miles in length and is classed as "moderate". It is a splendid and very interesting walk.
Bring walking shoes and suitable clothing. There is no charge for te walk but if you want to book a meal at the Hare and Hounds ask for a copy of the Sunday Menu from Roger Frost We need a minimum of c12 to book for the walk to take place. Please contact Roger to add your name to the list, or alternatively, contact me and I will forward yur message.

Thanks Gloria for transcribing this from the Newsletter :D

I'd love to go but can't say for certain at the moment. We had planned to be away at the beginning of the month for my 40th but had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. We hope to get away at some point but don't know when yet. It will probably be a few more weeks before we can confirm anything :?

As far as I am aware The Hare and Hounds is closed. There is always the cafe up Thursden. Anyone going? Think we are.

We won't be. We are hoping (still!) to get away but mum is a bit concerned about getting back uphill if we go downhill!

I've sent Roger several emails, they didn't necessarily need him to reply to me (site contacts) but he sometimes does. He hasn't. I'll give him a call when I get chance as there are a few things I want to discuss.

Did you have a good hol?

From Burnley Express, Neighbourhood News
"The July Walk, arranged for July 28th, will take place in Sept due to the temporary closure of the Hare and Hounds."

We could have gone to the cafe at Coldwell instead perhaps--but not to be.
