It should work now Maureen.
I had to change all the links when the main site had the upgrade a few months back. I must have missed this topic.

Irene, the lady who makes us a cuppa at the meeting has kindly lent me some photos for the archive. They can be found at http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... People.htm They are the last few on the page and mostly Edmondsons though there is a Pickles and a Baldwin amongst them.

I will be altering some of the folders in the Photo archive at some point as the pages are getting a little too long. I will probably paginate them.

JackH has kindly submitted some pictures for the site. Two of them can be found on the Briercliffe People page, linked below and the rest are on the Schools page, also linked. Jacks school photos are the last on the page.

JackH has been digging since he first submitted these pictures and has discovered that these people were in France to visit the graves of their loved ones who died in the Great War. There were Briercliffe people on these coaches, including Jack's great grandmother.

Another alteration...
I have created 'Weddings' and 'Groups' using images that were previously in 'Briercliffe People'. This section is quite large as I'm sure you are aware so I am trying to thin it down a bit.
There will almost certainly be broken links on the forum that previously referenced some of the pictures that I have moved. If you come across any, could you please either post here or send me the link to the thread containing the broken link and I will fix it.

3 new school photos on the site from Haggate. The lady who sent them to me, Mrs M Scholefield could not remember which year they were taken but says they are between 1947 and 1952.

As mentioned on another topic, Hannah has submitted a batch of photos. One or two of them are in the miscellaneous section.
Do you recognise anyone on any of these?

http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... ng%202.htm

http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... Mother.htm I'm sure I've seen this lady's face on another picture.

http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Pho ... ioners.htm Kris - remember the picture of the Worsthorne couple that appears on ebay from time to time. Do you think this could be the same couple? I'd say it was taken in the same period.

Hi Mel, the Worsthorne couple are midgets, so it is not them, but I would say that this photo is fairly old, 1870’s?

Is there anything on the back of this photo, is the cardboard thick or thin, and are the corners of the photo squared or round? What is the photographer’s name?

Best guess 1860/70s. Do you know Kris?

Hi Stephanie, I don’t know the answer, but my best guess is late 1880’s, early 1890’s. Unfortunately I cannot find any record of The Burnley Photo Company (25 Bridge Street, Burnley) in the trade directory.

Thanks Charon. What does this mean? “Form completed 18 September 1884. Registration stamp: 7 October 1884.”

Is it the date the business was registered?
