Maureen, I wonder if this Emmot has anything to do with the family above?

1919 – LEAVER Mary otherwise Emmott Mary of 4 Queen street, Harle Syke near Burnley, spinster died 3 March 1919. Probate London 23 April to John Thornton, taper. Effects £1,445 3s. 3d.

It looks like she was born Briercliffe 1844. I wondered whether her mother was Leaver and she (Mary) was born before the marraige. But I haven't found the marriage at all. Maybe I need to track it from another angle and find her birth.

Well there were two Mary Emmots born in the Burnley area in the same year, but both registered as Emmott, so my last theory goes out the window. I wonder whether she just lived with a Leaver and was known by his name? That would have to have been between the last census and her death and I would have thought that a bit unusual in view of her age.
Wonder whether the will would throw up any clues?
