The Burnley News. Wednesday, January 16, 1924. WEDDING. – The marriage took place at Haggate Baptist Chapel, on Saturday of Mr. A. P. Edmondson, of Church-street, and Miss Lucy Baldwin, of Duke-street, Briercliffe. Mr. James Halstead, junior, officiated. The bride, who was given away by Mr. George E. Clarke, wore a dress of beaver velvet with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of lilies. She was attended by the Misses Sarah Ann Baldwin and Edith Baldwin, Phyllis Sutcliffe, Sarah Richardson and Nellie Richardson. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Fred Edmondson, the groomsman being Mr. Willie Taylor. Tea was served at the Independent Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Edmondson were the recipients of many presents. |

I don't think that Duke St is a long street, my daughter used to live at number 19. I will ask her tomorrow (today) how long it is. regards Maggie |

No. 19, that is a coincidence! It turns out that this Baldwin and some Leaver’s also lived at the same address! viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1878 |

Kris, is that question aimed at Irene who submitted the pictures? She is not a member of the forum and does not have internet. She is the lady who makes the tea at the meetings. |

Yes it was. Can you ask Irene when you see her next? I believe their parents were Selina Maud Starkie and Arthur Baldwin who lived at Duke street and Cross Street, Briercliffe. |

Thanks Mel. Maybe you could show her the Burnley News article at the top of this page as well. Also, if Irene is related to Selina Starkie and Arthur Baldwin then she will be related to Harold and Arthur Leaver. If so, can you show her those photos I sent a couple of days ago? Maybe she knows who the people are. |
