Bride – Martha Sutcliffe, Full age, Spinster of Briercliffe
Grooms father – Bannister Leaver, Weaver
Brides father – Moses Sutcliffe, Weaver
Witnesses – Thomas Walton and Henry Clegg

She might be like you Mel and keeping her Maiden name, if that child John Sutcliffe is hers that is another reason why she may want to keep her Maiden name.

On the next census she is listed as Leaver. I think "" were used, John was above her on the apge so I guess thats another possible explanation. They don't half make you think sometimes!
