I have had a look at the Haggate burials. There is no Henry Leaver (any spelling) buried there between 1831 and 1841 but he could be somewhere else of course!

If this is the right Mary, then Henry appears to have died between, say, 1839 & 1841.
I can't find a death in Burnley, although there are a coupple of Henry Levers in Bury 1840.
I found Tabitha's birth on Lancs bmd, 1840
Looks like I might have to go back to the library and check out deaths and baptisms from 1831 on.

Was he away from home that night anyway? I searched for Mary - not Henry.

Anyway, it doesn't look like this is our Henry's widow. As Mel says, it looks like an unmarried mother.

I agree, we have the wrong Mary Leaver.

I'm sure I've been down this road before as I recognise some of the details I've just unearthed.
Tabitha appears on 1851 at Haggate with her grandmother. Trouble is it's a poor image and the names of her and her grandmother have been mis-transcribed.

So it looks like the father of Mary's child was a Jackson.

The Jackson family are at Haggate in 1841 with a 20-year old Tabatha, so that's obviously where the name came from.

Hiya Kris, I have Burrow's and Burrell's in my family, but don't recognise those Christian names, wonder if they were related somewhere along the line.
