Marry when the year is new, Always loving, kind and true.
When February birds do mate, You may wed or dread your fate.
If you wed when March winds blow, Joy and sorrow, both you'll kno.
Marry in April when you can - Joy for maiden and for man.
Marry in the month of May, You will surely rue the day.
Marry when June roses blow, Over land and sea you'll go.
They who in july do wed, must labour always for their bread.
Whoever wed in August be, Many a change are sure to see.
Marry in September's shine, Your living will be rich and fine.
If in October you do marry, Love will come, but riches tarry.
If you wed in bleak November, Only joy will come, remember.
When December snows fall fast, Marry and true love will last.

My nana used to have a rhyme but I forget most of it now. It went something like:

Marry in green, not fit to be seen
Marry in red, sooner be dead,
marry in yellow, curse the fellow

Married in Pink, your spirits will sink


Mine was a pale pearly, pinkish, blueish colour. :?

35 years yesterday. June bride aged just 18. No celebrations this year. Over land and sea the poem says! Lots of travelling overseas years ago now I'm more than happy with Calmac ferries to the Islands of Scotland. No-where more lovely if you get good weather. The white deserted beaches beat the Carribbean any day. It seems as if I'm an alien because I don't have a passport!

Please be prepared if you ever have to deal with a will that you don't exist without a passport!

Happy anniversary for yesterday!

My mum used to have the same problem Anne, she doesn't have a driving licence and up until we took her to France a few years ago, had never held a passport....can be very difficult as you say. The only mail that was addressed to her was her payslip from the council....the bills are all in dads name and the accounts were joint.

Your right Pollyanna about Scotland, there is nowhere more beautiful for scenery, that is where we are going this year for our hols. The beaches that you mentioned are white sand and lovely blue sea, we went there for our honeymoon, it was in June, fantastic weather, we were the only two people on this gorgeous beach, I could'nt believe it as I had never visited Scotland before.
It is 17 years for us, you lot have done really well, I think it is a credit to you all. :wink:

Lyndon went to Scotland for a few days on Sunday...he got back late last night. It's the first time he has been north since he was a young lad holidaying with his parents. He said he thoroughly enjoyed the drive there and back, the scenery was spectacular. Might have enjoyed it more if he wasn't staying in the middle of Glasgow for business purposes. Hoping to grab a few days up north when things calm down...I feel like I have been saying that for an absolute age!!
