February 13 1943

Heartiest congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. James Duerden, 16, Tenyson-street, Harle Syke, who celebrate their golden wedding next Tuesday. They were married on February 18th 1893, in Haggate Baptist Chapel. Both were born in the Haggate district. Mrs. Duerden is 75 and Mr. Duerden 72. In their younger days Mr. and Mrs. Duerden were members of the Haggate Baptist choir, and Mr. Duerden played with the Haggate cricket team. He is also a former member of the Haggate Institute. As a younger man he was a weaver at Queen-street Mill, and left there to take up farming from his father at Spring House Farm for the next 20 years. Rheumatism enforced his retirement about 20 years ago, though both he and Mrs. Duerden enjoy fairly good health. They have three daughters, one son and nine grandchildren to share their rejoicings.
