January 16 1943

A well-known native of Briercliffe in the person of Mr. Henry Eastwood was laid to rest in the Haggate burial ground, on Wednesday, his death, at the age of 81, taking place the previous Saturday at his home, Lees Cottage, Thursden, after a short illness. Before retiring at the close of the last war he was a weaver at Primrose Mill, Harle Syke. He was one of the oldest members of the Lanehead Working Men's Club. Mr. W.E. Thornber took the service at the home of the deceased's son, 4 Halifax-road, Haggate, and also officiated at the graveside. Arrangements by J. Atkinson, Harle Syke.
