Please do not take these records as 100% accurate as it is always possible mistakes have been made during
transcription from the original source material. You should ALWAYS refer back to the original documents for confirmation.

Mel,

Many thanks for the online photos of Haggate gravestones. I've just seen the Nicholl one. William Nicholl was the brother of my ancestor, Jennet Nicholl, who married Joseph Stanworth in 1819, and of Catherine Nicholl, who married John Parker in 1820. They were the children of Adam Nichol, the Scottish gamekeeper for whom I'm still searching. As I live in Canada, this is the first time I've seen the gravestone.

Joan

That's great news Joan. Keep checking though, I still have more gravestone pictures to add and still more to get yet. My camera started to play up when I went to Haggate a few weeks ago so I had to abandon my plans and go for lunch instead.
Would you like a copy of the photo? Send me your email address either by PM or the contact page on the main site and I will email one.

I'm hoping I might pop up next week but it will depend on the weather.

Something has struck me following a query from one of the members.
I have never pointed out that, on the Haggate & Hill Lane records, Section L is Hill Lane. All other sections are Haggate.

Thank you all at the Society for posting photos of local MIs. I've found five for my family, one of which I have not seen before. Living in Aberdeenshire, I really appreciate not having to travel 500 miles to see them. Also next time I am in Lancs I will know where to look.
