Late Mr. E. Atkinson

The death occurred on Monday of Mr. Ernest Atkinson (64), of Yeomans Farm, Briercliffe. Born in the village, he had a lifelong connection with Hill Lane Baptist Church. A talented musician, he was in his younger days well known throughout the district as a tenor vocalist. The greater part of his working life was spent as an overlooker for many years, at Briercliffe Mill, followed by a period at Heasandford Mill, and latterly at Hill End Mill. He leaves a widow, son and daughter. The funeral took place on Wednesday at St. James's Church. The Vicar (Rev. J. F. Foster) officiated.
