Hi Sarah, welcome to the forum.
I have a Herbert Hill in my tree but he married a Helen Taylor.

Did Herbert and Jane marry? Are you aware of any other children for them? I had a look on the LancashireBMD site but couldn't see a marriage for a Jane Burnman.

I would imagine you are having a very difficult time trying to trace what are probably living people!

Hi Sarah,
I don't know if this is of much help, BUT, there is a birth on lancashirebmd for a Herbert Hill 1933 Nelson, mother's maiden name Constable.
Are they his birth parents or adopted parents you are looking for?

Hi,

I am going to Burnley library tomorrow so I will see if I can find who was actually living at 41 Brunshaw Road in 1950.

Hi Sarah,

Could the surname be Brennan?

From the Burnley Directories living at 41 Brunshaw Road, Burnley:
1941 – not at that address
1945 – A Hill
1949 – A Hill, Motor Driver
1953 – Herbert Hill
1960 – No one listed at that address
1962 – No one listed at that address

Burnley Electoral Roll for 41 Brunshaw Road, Burnley
1945 – Herbert and Nellie Hill
1946 – Herbert and Nellie Hill
1947 – Herbert Hill, Gladys McDermott and John J. McDermott
1948 – Herbert Hill, Alice Cole, George Boyle and Jane Brennan, Winifred Harrison
1949 – Herbert Hill, Alice Cole, George Boyle and Jane Brennan
1951 – Herbert Hill, Alice Cole, George Boyle and Jean Brennan (it was definitely Jean on this one)
1952 – Herbert Hill, Dorothy Hill
1953 – Herbert Hill, Dorothy Hill
1954 – Herbert Hill, Dorothy Widdup
1955 – Herbert Hill, Dorothy Widdup
1956 – Herbert Hill, Dorothy Widdup

I am wondering if he was the Herbert Hill who died Burnley in 1958 aged 47 ? I didn`t get the chance to look at anything else, so when I go again I will have a look to see if there is an obituary in the paper. At least you can then rule it out or not as the case may be.

Hello Mo, Thats great that you have done that :) Yes looking at the name i think it is brennan. Its strange that 1950 it doesnt say who lived there, also its strange that jane lived there and then a jean brennan. :? That would be great if you could do that. Thanks so much Sarah

Hi,

It was my mistake that I omitted the 1950 - I didn`t realise until I got back home - sorry, but as they were identical in 1949 and 1951 I would imagine that it was the same. As for the Jane/Jean it could just have been a typing error on the Electoral Roll.
