Taken from LFHHS yahoo forum One of the new sets of records to appear on the Lancs On Line Parish Clerk site recently - are the grave registers for St James, Briercliffe from 1888 - 2011. These registers are really useful in that they normally provide an age at death, a date of burial and list everyone buried in that same grave. In the latter respect they are more useful than burial records. However - if you usually do a 'general' site search for an ancestor - results from grave registers may not appear, as they are not a burial, a marriage or a baptism. Hence to find these you will need to go to the 'parish' itself --- in this case, Briercliffe - St James church. There is an alphabetical search facility which makes it so much easier to find your ancestor if they have been buried there during the time scale covered. |
