One of the new sets of records to appear on the Lancs On Line Parish Clerk site recently - are the grave registers for St James, Briercliffe from 1888 - 2011.

These registers are really useful in that they normally provide an age at death, a date of burial and list everyone buried in that same grave. In the latter respect they are more useful than burial records.

However - if you usually do a 'general' site search for an ancestor - results from grave registers may not appear, as they are not a burial, a marriage or a baptism. Hence to find these you will need to go to the 'parish' itself --- in this case, Briercliffe - St James church. There is an alphabetical search facility which makes it so much easier to find your ancestor if they have been buried there during the time scale covered.

Thanks Gloria. I never knew there were things to be found on teh parish pages that wouldn't turn up on a search
