FOUND DEAD IN BED.
RETIRED FARMER’S SUDDEN END AT BURNLEY
A verdict of “Death from natural causes” was returned at an inquest at Burnley on Monday on the body of Lonsdale Sutcliffe (64), retired farmer, 5, Cog-square.
It was stated that Sutcliffe had suffered from bronchitis for some time, but had not received medical attention. On Saturday noon Patrick Webster, of 159, Accrington-road, Burnley, called at the house, but could not obtain any answer to his inquiries. Mr. Walker, a joiner, effected an entrance through the bedroom window, and found Sutcliffe lying dead in bed.
Dr. Clegg was called in, and said that death was probably due to bronchitis and hear failure.

Sudden Death

A painful case of sudden death took place on Thursday morning last, in Burnley. It appears that Mr. William Sutcliffe, cabinetmaker, retired to rest on Wednesday night in excellent health; he was, however, taken ill during the night, and before medical assistance had arrived he ceased to exist. The deceased was highly respected, and his sudden departure will be felt as a deep loss, both by his family and his numerous friends.

Thanks Elaine, that is really kind of you.

One or two of the Sutcliffes in the records are in my tree, others I have on file for one reason or another. I think some of them do also feature in Kris's tree.

Hi Elaine, this is kind offer, thank you.

Some of my relations lived at Cog Lane (although I cannot remember who at this time), and I am interested in the Brooks photographic studio of Coal Clough Lane. If you have time, would you take a photo of these streets please? Maybe Mel can add them to the site.

Thanks, K
