Joan, the probate record for Thomas Chadwick (1861) is not your relation, but I did find another Thomas Chadwick from Ashton-under-Lyne.

1860 – CHADWICK Thomas. Effects under £1,500
27th July.
The will with a codicil of Thomas Chadwick, late of Ashton-under-Lyne, in the County of Lancaster, cotton spinner, deceased who died 3rd June, 1860 at Ashton-under-Lyne aforesaid, was proved at Manchester by the oaths of Charles Chadwick of Ashton-under-Lyne aforesaid, book-keeper, the son and Elizabeth Chadwick of the same place, spinster, the daughter, two of the Executors.
