Remember I mentioned the policeman at the last meeting Gloria, I'm not sure if you heard the conversation as I was talking to Mr. Gloria - well the above link is to the photograph of him.

His daughter has submitted some pictures for the site and she told me that her dad was the village bobby though I think it was for Brierfield rather than Briercliffe although he lived in Cross Street.
I was asking Gloria's husband at the last meeting if he remembered him but could not think what his name was at the time.

Does anyone know the name of the local Briercliffe bobby that used to do his beat on a 'heartbeat' type motorbike? He often called in our house for a brew and a chat with my dad when out and about, but I was so scared of him I used to hide under the table until he'd gone!! I can't even remember what he looked like, but just remember his bike and his 'skid lid', so couldn't say if the one in the photo is the same one or not.

From my reliable source--other half--he lived at 3 Douglas Way and was known to local children as "Silent Sam" he doesn't think he ever knew his real name, but he knew him well.
