Blackburn Times, 27th June 1925 (Judge Ward Stanworth)
There was an interesting visitor to Blackburn yesterday. In his honour Judge Stanworth, a senior County Judge of the Supreme Court of Ontario, and brother Councillor James Stanworth, J.P., Mayor of Blackburn. Judge Stanworth paid his last visit to Lancashire about 25 years ago. He left Canada on Friday of last week by Canadian Pacific liner “Mount Royal” and he reached Liverpool at noon on Thursday, being met at the landing stage by the Mayoress. He is remaining in this district until the end of August. Judge Stanworth is a native of Burnley. He went to Canada as a boy of nine, and subsequently studied for the bar. He was appointed Judge in February 1916. He has twice been visited by the Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn in Canada, the last occasion being in 1920, when Councillor Stanworth was an official delegate at the Canadian tour undertaken by the Imperial Chamber of Commerce.
