Women Unionists' Whist Drive
The Women Unionists held a whist drive at Graves' Cafe on Wednesday evening. The prize winners were:- Ladies: 1, Mrs. Greenwood: 2, Miss F Taylor. Gents: 1, Mrs. Lister (playing as gent): 2, Mr. F. Grunshaw.

Tennyson-street Sisterhood
The weekly meeting of the Sisterhood was held at Tennyson Street on tuesday evening, when Mr. Snowden, of Nelson, gave an address on "The Industrial Revolution." The meeting, over which Mrs. Pugh presided, was well attended. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker at the close.

The Late Mr. J. Duerden
The funeral took place at St James's Church on Thursday afternoon of Mr. John Duerden, of Church-street. Mr. Duerden, who died on Monday night, after a short illness, was in his 62nd year. Much sympathy is felt with his widow, in her bereavement. The services at the home and graveside were conducted by the Rev. R.P.Newton.
