Briercliffe
On Monday evening last Mr. Alfred Heap was stepping into the street on leaving the Co-op newsroom, in Towneley-street, when he slipped and broke his leg in two places. He was removed to the infirmary.
Childrens Splendid Effort
As a result of the contributions brought by the children of the Council School, Briercliffe, just before breaking up for Christmas, the headmaster, Mr. Leaver, has been able to forward a cheque (value £3 4s. 3d.) to the above Home for Crippled Waifs and Strays. In spite of the fact that many other good causes have been supported at the above school during the last two years the collection (an annual one) in aid of Dr. Barnado's Home, has realised about the same amount as in previous years.
