Women Unionists' Whist Drive
A whist drive, promoted by the Women Unionists, was held at Graves' Cafe on Wednesday. The prize winners were:- Ladies: 1, Mrs Maudsley: 2, Mrs Wade. Gents: 1, Mr. F. Tattersall, 2, Mrs. Alfred Bather.
The Late Mrs Halstead
The interment took place at Hill Lane Baptist Chapel, on Tuesday, of Mrs. Nellie Halstead, wife of Mr. F. Halstead, of 4 Jubilee-street, Briercliffe. Mrs. Halstead, who died on friday of last week, after a prolonged illness, was in her 36th year, and was well known and highly respected in the district. The services at the home and at the grave side were conducted by the Rev. W. O. Pugh.
Rechabites' Tent Meeting
The monthly Tent meeting of the I.O. Rechabites, Briercliffe branch, was held on Thursday evening, in the Wesleyan School, when a lantern lecture was given on "Water Mill Hollow," the story being described by Mr T.W. Wright. At the request of Mr. Wright, all the members stood for a few moments, as a token of sympathy with the late Ethel Pomfret, who was a member of the Tent
