Aged 21 years, she was formerly employed as a weaver at Hill End Manufacturing Co., and attended Hill-lane Chapel. She was interred at the Hill lane Baptist Chapel burial ground on Monday, the Rev. H. Hough officiating. Arrangements by Burnley Co-op. Soc.
The death took place last Tuesday, at her home, of Mrs. Nanny Atkinson, of 104, Burnley road, Harle Syke. Aged 85 years, she was the last surviving member of the family of the late Mr. Thomas Thornton, who for many years was coachman for the late Mr. T.T. Smith, of Hill End House. She commenced work as a weaver at Hill End Mill at the early age of eight, and ultimately married Mr. Thomas Atkinson, who predeceased her many years ago. Always a regular attender, she was the oldest member of Haggate Baptist Chapel. She leaves five daughters, one son, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was interred in Haggate Chapel burial ground inst. Saturday, Mr. W. Thornber taking the service at the home and at the graveside. Messrs John Atkinson carried out the arrangements.
