Swerved to Miss Cat: 3 Hurt

When a motorcyclist, Cyril Almond (27), Catlow House, Nelson, swerved to avoid a cat in Briercliffe-road, near Haydock-street, Burnley, on Sunday night, the machine was involved in collision with Mrs. Ethel Farrer (61), 4 Walpole-street. Almond and his pillion passenger, Joseph Howard (27), 13, Caleb-street, Nelson, were thrown from the machine. Almond was taken to Victoria Hospital and detained with head injuries. Howard was given treatment for lacerations but was not detained and Mrs. Farrer was given treatment for bruises and then went home.
