Burnley Express and News 3 July 1935 Nelson - Harle Syke Wedding Astin - Hartley St Paul's Church, Little Marsden, was the scene of an interesting Harle Syke - Nelson wedding last Monday. The bridegroom was Mr. Frank Astine, second son of Mr. and Mrs. t. Astin, of 12, milton-street, Harle Syke, and the bride Miss Phyllis Hartley, of Abbeydale, Causeway foot, Nelson. The bridegroom's father is a well-known Harle Syke plumber and electrician. The bride, who was given away by her mother, was charmingly attired in lavender crepe suede, with hat and shoes to tone, and carried a bouquet of pink roses. She was attended by Miss Mildred Nuttall (friend), who was dressed in pink phantom crepe, and by Mrs. J Dyson (friend), who wore a dress of pink crepe marocain. Both carried bouquets of sweet peas. Mr. Tom Greenwood (friend of the bridegroom) acted as best man, and Mr. Arthur Astin (brother of the bridegroom) was groomsman. The Rev. W.M.V. Gregory officiated, and Mr. E. Hutchnson, A.T.C.I., M.R.S.T., was the organist. A reception was held in the Station Hotel, Nelson. After the honeymoon on the East Coast, the newly married couple will reside at 3, Towneley-street, Harle Syke. Mr. and Mrs. Astin were the recipients of numerous handsome presents, including a linen basket and dinner service from the staff of the Victory Works, Nelson, where the bride was employed. |
