Birthdays
Best wishes will be extended to Mrs. Ellen Taylor, of Cockden Cottage, who celebrates her 87th birthday to-day, and Mr. John Baldwin, of 58, Burnley-road, who is 83 to-morrow.

Whist
At a whist drive in the Conservative Hut, on Saturday, the winners were:- Ladies: 1, Mrs. Robinson; 2, Mrs. J. Smith. Gents: 1, Mrs. Proctor; 2, Miss E. Holgate. Mr. J. Winstanley was M.C.

Late Mr. H Kershaw
The death occurred on Friday after a long illness of Mr. Herbert Kershaw (72), of 20, Granville-street. A native of Burnley, he had resided in the village for the past five years. He had a long association with Yatefield Conservative Club, Burnley, of which he was an honorary member. His wife died 15 years ago. He leaves one son and two daughters. The funeral took place yesterday at Broughton, near Skipton. the Rev. R.T. Millerchip officiated.

Hill Lane Baptists
The minister (Rev. G. Williams) conducted a service in Tennyson-street Chapel on Good Friday morning. In the afternoon a party of scholars and friends left the school at Hill Lane and rambled over the moors to Wycoller where they were met by another party who had travelled by bus. the party of about 60 had a picnic tea, and then proceeded to the recreation ground at Trawden where games were enjoyed.
