Presentations
On Thursday afternoon, the pupils belonging the seminary for young ladies, for many years so ably conducted by the Misses Atkinson, Grimshaw-street, Burnley, broke up for the summer vacation. As it was understood that the school would be re-opened under different management, both the present and some of the former pupils united in presenting their mistresses with a slight token of their esteem. To Mrs. Atkinson they presented a handsome gold mourning brooch; to Miss Atkinson a gold brooch, set with pebbles; to Miss Hannah Atkinson a silver bracelet, set with pebbles and a topaz; and to Miss Susan Atkinson, their principal mistress, they presented a splendid rosewood dressing-case, fitted up with every requisite for the toilet, and of a costly description. Several of the senior pupils addressed a few appropriate words on making the presentations, which were replied to in feeling terms by the recipients. We need scarcely add that the whole of the members of the family were highly gratified by receiving these unexpected tokens of esteem.
