Fatal Accident

On Saturday last, James Lonsdale, aged 24 years, carter to Mr. Thomas Whitham, farmer, Coppy Clough, Burnley, was coming from Towneley coalpit with coals to the factory of Mr. Norton fletcher, Burnley Wood, when within a quarter of a mile of the factory the poor fellow slipped and fell on his face, and before he could recover himself the wheel of the cart passed over his shoulders, and bruised him so severely that he died in twenty-fiveminutes after the accident occurred,
