Fire On Tuesday evening last, about a quarter-past nine o'clock, a fire was disocvered on the premises jointly occupied by Mr. John Georgson, cabinet maker, and Mr. Hargreaves, Howe-street, Burnley, which is supposed to have originated in the upper attic storey, used as a cabinet maker's shop, and to have been caused by a spark from the fire igniting the shavings, though all was apparently safe when the workmen left the shop, a few minutes before seven o'clock. The various fire-engines did not arrive at the spot for at least half an hour, and did not then get to work for some time, and the flames were not extinguished for more than two hours after the fire was discovered. The upper portion of the premises was completely gutted. Georgson's loss is almost covered by an insurance with the Liverpool and London Assurance Company, to the amount of £150; but Mr. Hargreaves, the occupant of the lower part of the premises, had, unfortunately, not insured, and his loss will be considerable. The building, which belongs to Mr. Redehalgh, of Foulridge, near Colne, was also uninsured.
