Snaring Game
On Monday last, at the Burnley Petty Sessions, before P.E. Towneley, and Thos. H. Whitaker, Esqrs., Charles Fielden, of Habergham Eaves, labourer, was fined 40s. and costs, and in default of payment to be committed to the House of Correction for two months, for setting snares for the purpose of taking game. John Nuttall stated in evidence that he was looking over some ground in the occupation of John Keirby, in the aforenamed township, on the evening of 25th March last, and saw two snares in the fence, evidently set for catching game. Having put them on one side, he remained until the morning near the fence, when he saw the defendant come and reset the snares.
