Death From Burning

On Monday last, an inquest was held at the "Ram" public house, Cliviger, on view of the body of Robert Calvert, who was 93 years of age last June. About a month since, the deceased, who was very infirm, was sitting by the fire, when on rising he put his hand on part of the stove, which burnt him, and he fell down on the hearth-stone. His clothes caught light, and before assistance could be rendered him he was a good deal burnt, from the effects of which he died on Wednesday week. Verdict, "Accidental death."

Ah! 93, what a good age, shame about the circumstances in which he died.

I bet he would have been in a residential home today....it does say he was very infirm. I wonder how he managed?
