Fatal Accident
On Monday last, an inquest was held at the Towneley Arms Inn, Cliviger, near Burnley, on the body of Edward Barker. It appears that the deceased, who is a person about 28 years of age, and lived at Cliviger, had been in the habit of accompanying the Bacup carriers to Burnley, to assist them in loading their carts. Yesterday week he went with them for that purpose, and, in returning home, fell off one of the carts, which was loaded with wool, and the wheel went over his back. He was immediately taken home, but he was not able to speak, and died on the following morning, about six o'clock. A verdict was returned of "Accidental death."
