The State of Mortality

Scarlatina is taking off numbers of children in Burnley and the neighbourhood. On Thursday week the youngest son of a man named Crowther, of Cliviger, died, and on the following day his two other sons. The three children were buried in one grave, on Sunday last, in Homle-chapel church yard.

Both my sister and I had Scarlet Fever in the late 60's. One of the most boring times of my life as we weren't allowed to get up and had to rest to avoid complications.

Apparently it's on the increase again.
