New Gas Company
A preliminary meeting was held at the Bull Inn, on Thursday evening last, for the purpose of organizing a new gas company, to be called "The Burnley Gas Consumers' company." Richard Shaw, Esq., solicitor, stated that the company was provisionally registered. After the merits of the question had been discussed the meeting separated, with the understanding that prospectuses would be issued forthwith, which will be numerously and respectably signed, making an appeal to the gas consumers generally. At present it is proposed to constitute the capital at £15,000, to be made up by 3,000 shares, of £5 each. It is confidently expected from the promises made that the whole of the capital will be subscribed in the course of a few days.
