Trade in Burnley

Although from 6000 to 7000 persons have been relieved for some weeks past from the parochial rates within the Burnley union, the distress has not been so intense or general as in some other localities. During the last week several mills have commenced running full time; and a very extensive and long-established cotton spinning firm, employing 500 hands, but which had lately closed in consequence of being in difficulties, resumed business on Wednesday last, to the great joy of the operatives. They are only working seven hours per day at present, but expect running full time on Monday next.
