Fatality At Briercliffe
Aged Carter Killed
Yesterday the death took place on the way to the Hospital of Bannister Nutter, 77 years of age, of 20, Towneley-street, Harle Syke. He was employed as a carter by the Harle Syke Mill Co. Yesterday, about noon, he returned after bringing a cartload of coal from the pit. The accident was not apparently witnessed by anyone, and it is presumed that whilst he was loading the cart round the corner from the road to the tmill yard he either slipped or was knocked down by the horse. The loaded cart had passed over his body, and he did not survive his injuries long.
