Overturned Motor coach
Passenger Killed and Five Injured

A motor-coach containing a party of Blackpool holiday-makers, overturned yesterday afternoon, killing one passenger and injuring five others.
The coach, a fourteen-seater, belonging to Messrs. Ainsworth and Sons, of Accrington, was taking a party of about a dozen holiday-makers for a country drive in the district around Blackpool. When a short distance outside the town, the coach, in avoiding a motor-cyclist, who suddenly slackened his speed in front of the motor-coach, was swerved to one side. The near-side front tire burst, the rim of the wheel ploughed into the road, and locked the steering gear, with the result that the coach overturned.
Nearly all the passengers were thrown clear, but Mrs. Margaret Edmundson, aged 47, of Alderhurst End Farm, Trawden, near Colne, Lancashire, who was pinned underneath, received serious injuries, and died in Blackpool Hospital in the evening.
Her husband, Mr. John Edmundson, who is also in hospital suffering from injuries to his head and back, stated that he and his wife were sitting on the back seat of the motor-coach. He had no idea of what had happened, but he heard his wife scream, and then the motor-coach suddenly turned over. He was underneath the car, but he managed to crawl out.
Mrs. Bertha Guy, of Holly Grove, Union-street, Halifax, is also in
hospital with a broken arm and suffering from severe shock.
The driver of the coach, Mr. H. Ainsworth, a son of the proprietor, Mr.
arry Dyson, a dining-room proprietor, of rochdale, and Miss Alice Kershaw, also of rochdale, received injuries, but after treatment in the hospital were able to return home.
