BRIERCLIFFE.
LANTERN ENTERTAINMENT. – On Monday a lantern entertainment was given at the Haggate Band of Hope meeting, when “Her Benny” was exhibited by Mr. F. Atkinson, with Mr. H. Shoesmith as reader.
YOUNG LIBERALS. – A meeting was held in the Haggate Baptist School, on Friday evening, for the purpose of forming a Young Liberals League. There were about sixty persons, old and young, present, and Mr. James Ogden presided. Messrs. T. H. Grey and L. Thornber, two officials of the Burnley League, spoke. The formation of the League was then proceeded with, Mr. J. Ogden being appointed president, and Mr. Walter Taylor secretary, with the following as a committee: - Messrs. F.P. Leaver, J. Duerden, James Taylor, Tom Proctor, W. Whitehead, Jno. Atkinson, F.E. Crawford, Alf. Kippax, and Abm. Jackson.
